TVS Expands in Longwood Medical Area
February 1, 2010
Children's Hospital Boston, one of the major hospitals in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area in Boston, recently added the TransLoc Transit Visualization System (TVS) for their employee shuttles. Employees can now get real-time shuttle locations and announcements on the web, on mobile phones, and on flat-screen monitors in building lobbies, making it easier to access mass transit and hospital facilities. Check it out online or on your mobile phone.
Children's Hospital Boston joins the Medical Academic and Scientific Community Organization (MASCO) in providing shuttles to the 50,000+ employees and students who work and study in the Longwood Medical Area. Coinciding with the start of the TVS at Children's Hospital Boston, MASCO has added the TVS to 6 additional routes. Explore the additional MASCO routes online or on your mobile phone.
Improvements to the TVS
November 19, 2009
We recently released several enhancements to the Transit Visualization System in hopes of making it even more useful and intuitive. So on your next visit to the TVS, look for:
- Map improvements: Now you can hide the legend, thereby enlarging the map viewing area. We've also re-worked the arrows at close zoom levels to make it easier to tell what direction buses run along a route. And now, if you enable a route that is off the screen, or if a bus is added to a route that is off the screen, a pop-up will let you know.
- Smarter on Smartphones: Riders with smartphones can now access an enhanced version of TVS Mobile featuring detailed maps, moving buses, and improved access to new announcements.
- TVS on your website: Transit agencies can now include a scaled-down version of the TVS on their own site. This embedded version lets transit agencies provide the TVS alongside other content of their choosing.
Check out the changes on the web or from your smartphone and let us know how we're doing.
Three new campuses add TVS
September 28, 2009
When Jacksonville State University unveiled their new campus transit system, the Gamecock Express, they did so with the TransLoc Transit Visualization System (TVS) to help introduce and attract new riders to transit. At the Savannah College of Art & Design, students, faculty, and staff at the Savannah and Atlanta campuses will now use TVS to make riding the Bee Line more comfortable and convenient. And in the northeast, Boston College joins Harvard University, MASCO, Princeton University, and Yale Univeristy as TransLoc customers. At all of these locations, riders can get up-to-the-second bus locations on the internet, cell phones, or at stops.
Experience TVS for yourself at Jacksonville State University, Savannah College of Art & Design, and Boston College.
